I'm a big fan of a re-read. Possibly because I love a spoiler and reading a book again is like reading one big spoiler.

I like that when I read something more than once, there's no stress because I know what's coming. I know the perfect points to stop at when I'm forced to put the book away. I'm less likely to stay up all night with the need to find out what happened. The anticipation of advancing on my favourite scenes, of being aware they're coming.

From the viewpoint of being a writer, re-reading something makes me notice aspects I might not normally when I'm concentrating wholly on the story. The way the words are phrased, the descriptive prose, the character development.

With my favourite authors, I'm not just going to re-read once. I'm going to read them again and again. Which authors inspire this kind of obsession? A lot of em.

I fangirl over authors the way another might fangirl over Taylor Swift. (Although, side note: I would also fangirl over Taylor Swift.)

My favourites?

LJ Smith

I read the Forbidden game series when I was thirteen and I fell in love with Julian. I read this trilogy a lot before I followed up with buying The Night World series. Even as an adult I read these books a lot. I never stopped loving them. The characters and the romance hook me even now.

Nalini Singh

If for some reason, someone made me pick a favourite author, Nalini Singh would be the first name that would come to mind and she'd stay there. I love her. Every book is amazing and tells the story exactly as I want it to be told. To me, Nalini Singh's books are perfection. I read the Psy/Changeling while I was going through chemo and I remember when I couldn't sleep, they got me through some long nights.

Deric Longden

Every time I read one of Deric's books, I laugh out loud. I've sat in public places chuckling and giggling. His books about cats bring me such joy, I love reading them.

Gena Showalter

She writes funny and wild heroines. Beautiful love stories. Hilarious scenes. Sexy males. Why wouldn't you read these again?

Kelley Armstrong

Have you read her Darkest Powers series? If you have then this needs no explanation. It's the trilogy I recommend when anyone asks for something to read.

Johanna Lindsey

My mum had a box of these in the garage. I stole them, and never looked back. Historical romance at its finest.

Mitch Albom

Tuesdays with Morrie is something special. I'll always read this over and over because I feel like with every read, it makes me a better person.

These are just a few of my favourites, but I have many more. If you haven't read these authors, and you like the sound of them, then I couldn't recommend them enough. To me, all of these have written books that are something special.
